Anna Martine whitehead

Anna Martine Whitehead is an artist, educator, and abolitionist. Since 2006 they've worked with artists, scholars, and activists to make art exploring Black social practice, queer collectivity, and freedom dreaming. Martine has grown through collaborations with Kai Marshall Green, taisha paggett, Amanda Williams, Every house has a door, Onye Ozuzu, Jefferson Pinder, Amara Tabor-Smith, Keith Hennessy, & others. They've been lifted by support from the Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Chicago Dancemakers Forum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, 3Arts, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, & the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. They teach at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and organize with the Prison + Neighborhood Arts / Education Project.
